Greetings! I am Hamza Wahla, currently serving as the CEO of SpatialOx LLC, Founder of MapBakes and working as a freelancer on Upwork and Fiverr. My passion lies in Geo-Spatial Sciences and Artificial Intelligence, where I utilize technology to enhance understanding of the planet.

Real Geospatial Engine

The journey of my geospatial expertise began in my second year of studies, inspired by a conversation with Gregory Lund, a GIS professor at the University of Washington. This sparked my passion for GIS and led me to take free lectures through MIT OpenCourseWare, EdX, and Coursera.

In the same year, I started freelancing on Fiverr, offering services like map design, geocoding, data collection, geoprocessing, and spatial analysis. Working with clients from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia allowed me to solve real-world problems, such as:

  • Creating web apps for agricultural crop measurement
  • Developing dashboards for Johns Hopkins University projects
  • Processing drone datasets on WebODM
  • Building a virtual 3D town using CityEngine
  • Conducting 911 call predictions with Geographic Weighted Regression (GWR)
  • Designing ArcGIS tools for heat stress hotspot mapping
  • Preprocessing data for NHD Natural Hazards Disclosure Reports

Each project introduced new challenges and learning opportunities, enriching my skills and broadening my perspective.

With guidance from mentors like Dr. Imran, Dr. Amin, Junaid Ab Jabbar, and Bucky Roberts, I completed over 376 projects, achieving a 4.9/5.0 rating on Fiverr. In 2019, I was recognized as a Level 2 Seller and ranked among the top 16 GIS experts on the platform.

In August 2020 and May 2021, I graduated with a B.S. in GIS and a P.G.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Arid University and PIAIC, respectively. During my academic journey, I worked as a Remote Sensing Research Assistant and Technical Support Lead at Geoinformatics Lab under Dr. M. Amin. My contributions included:

  • Mapping households for BISP in partnership with SDPI Pakistan and Aurat Foundation
  • Providing ESRI product support to various university departments

I am deeply passionate about advancing research in remote sensing, Earth sciences, and climate change. My focus areas include non-inertial GPS, heatwaves, the Indus Delta, and atmospheric science. I aim to enhance my skills in GEO-AI and leverage technology to better understand and protect our environment.

  • I had opportunity to work in Earth Observation Team under the leadership of Dr Waqas Qazi.I was supervised by Shahbaz Baig for climatic data processing.
  • Working here made me proficient in following formats NetCDF, HDF5, GRIB using NCO, CDO, Panolpy, NC Viewer, Opendap server, Ubunto 18.04 LTS, Cygwin, in Oracle VM.
  • Also I got adeptness in python libraries like xarray, netcdf4, opendap, matpoltlib, irisapi and hdf.
  • Daily standup meeting conducted by Vincenzo Conte who is Tech Team lead at Offshore Navigation used to create a python analytics on my performance.
  • In this opportunity I prepared a Python-CDO Script to visualize the frequency of climatic datasets.
